This week brought a dramatic swing in overnight temperatures, and our farm production team jumped into action to protect our most tender crops. Delicate blossoms on apricots, plums, pears, and apples are especially vulnerable to cold injury during these transitional weeks. To guard against frost damage, we activated our smudge pots in the apricot orchards and used orchard fans to circulate air and prevent frost from settling on blossoms in the apple and plum orchards. Thanks to the experience and quick thinking of our production managers, these protective steps ensured that what blooms now will become the fruit that feeds families later this year. #alstedefarms #FrostPrep #WeatherWatch #FarmLife #CropProtection
